EASTON, Mass.–The College of Saint Rose put four players in double figures scoring to chalk up tonight's 72-66 Northeast-10 Conference win at Stonehill. The Golden Knights (7-9/4-5 NE10) have now won three of their last four.
Â
"Our team played really hard tonight. We played great team defense and shared the ball really well. We need to continue to get better each and every day," said head coach
Mike Perno.
Â
Sophomore guard
Adam Anderson led the way with 26 points behind 8-for-13 shooting from the floor. Senior forward
Matt Cerutti finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and three steals; while freshman forward
Sekou Sylla contributed 10 points and nine boards as well. Senior guard
Shane Herrity also finished with 10 points.
Â
Saint Rose led for 35 minutes, but had to withstand a pair of Stonehill late pushes to come away with the victory. The Skyhawks (10-6/4-5 NE10) pulled to within a bucket, 55-53, with 7:34 remaining, but the Golden Knights responded with a 10-0 jaunt to push their advantage back to a dozen, 65-53, with 2:49 to go.
Â
Stonehill again made it a one possession game, 69-66, with 25 seconds left after freshman guard Josh Mack buried a 3-pointer. However, Anderson canned a pair from the foul line and Cerutti added another in the final 13 seconds to seal the win.
Â
Junior guard Will Moreton wound up with 19 points and 14 rebounds, and senior forward Joel Berroa also scored 19 to lead the Skyhawks.
