NORTH EASTON, Mass.-The College of Saint Rose suffered its first loss of the season and host Stonehill remained unbeaten by scoring once in each half during today's Northeast-10 Conference opener for both sides.
Â
The Skyhawks (4-0-0/1-0-0 NE10), who have yet to allow a goal this season, struck midway through each period to secure the victory. Freshman forward Camryn Thompson found the back of the net twice for Stonehill.
Â
However, the contest could have easily changed course as junior forward
Nina Predanic delivered a free kick from 25-yards out that rattled the crossbar with 25 seconds left until intermission.
Â
Between the posts, junior
Marika Laurendeau recorded seven saves for the Golden Knights (2-1-1/0-1-0 NE10), while Kaitlin Brown turned aside five threats for Stonehill.
Â
Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns home Wednesday to take on NE10 rival American International. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm.
