ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose broke open a 2-0 match at halftime by scoring four times throughout the second stanza on the way to tonight's 6-0 victory versus Caldwell at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex.
Junior forward
Nina Predanic scored three times while fellow junior forwards
Caitlyn Dabagian and
Morgan Burchhardt added one apiece as did sophomore midfielder
Myah Hughes.
Meanwhile, junior keeper
Marika Laurendeau recorded six saves to help the Golden Knights (2-0-1) remain unbeaten. At the other end, freshman Jamie-Lee Banford came up with three stops for the Cougars (1-2-0).
"I am proud of our ladies and their approach to the game this evening. We implemented some tactical changes and the girls responded. It was an overall solid team performance and collected effort," said head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.
Predanic finished the game-winner with 15:28 elapsed when she collected a pass and created space for herself before delivering a shot into the top right corner. She let go a shot 13 minutes later that slipped through Banford's hands for a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Dabagian then drove a strike inside the left post three minutes into the second period. Predanic found the back of the net again four minutes later to make it a 4-0 affair. Burchhardt continued the scoring outburst by lining a direct kick from 20-yards out into the right corner at the 64:02 mark. Hughes knocked home a deflected ball in the area to close out the scoring with 11 minutes left.
Looking ahead, both sides get back on the pitch Saturday with their respective conference openers. Saint Rose heads to North Easton, Mass. to take on Northeast-10 Conference rival Stonehill at 2:00 pm, while Caldwell hosts Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Wilmington at noon.
