ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose won both its matches at today's Molloy Tournament. The Golden Knights (3-3) defeated Molloy, reigning East Coast Conference Champions, 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-12) and swept Post 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22).

Junior outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer topped Saint Rose with a combined 27 kills on .295 hitting. Senior setter
Sam Kubik totaled 82 assists, good for an 11.71 per set average, while junior libero
Tina Ceriello accumulated 42 digs in the pair of victories.

"Our team chemistry is starting to come together and it showed today," said Saint Rose head coach
Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "Our defense played well, making it easier for our offense to run and finish hard."

After the host Lions (3-1) took the opening set by a score of 25-21, Saint Rose used a 15-4 run to win the second set. Following a close third set victory, the Golden Knights closed things out in four on the strength of a 14-5 jaunt.

Senior middle hitter
Shayna Webber hit .414 en route to a team-best 13 kills. Webber also registered six blocks. Schweitzer added 12 kills and nine digs, while Kubik recorded her second "double-double" of the fall with 44 assists and 10 digs.

Molloy received 12 kills from sophomore middle hitter Kacey Affrunti and 29 assists from junior setter Sophia Smith. Junior defensive specialist Jessica Fischetti elevated 23 Saint Rose attacks.

The Golden Knights hit .318 in its sweep of Post. After recording a .389 hitting percentage in the opening set, Saint Rose hit .324 to break a 16-16 second set deadlock. In the third set, the Golden Knights got out to a 12-3 lead and held on to complete the whitewashing.

Schweitzer had 15 kills on .400 hitting and 13 digs, while Kubik dished out 38 assists.

Post senior setter Brianna Root registered a "double-double" of 27 assists and 11 digs in defeat. Senior outside hitters Sarah Seger and Madison Hunziker led the Eagles (0-3) with eight kills apiece.

Saint Rose now heads to Old Westbury, N.Y. to compete at the NYIT Tournament tomorrow. The Golden Knights will face Bloomfield at noon and NYIT at 2:00 pm.
