OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at today's NYIT Tournament. The Golden Knights (4-4) swept Bloomfield (25-19, 25-12, 25-15) and lost to NYIT 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 30-32, 25-23).

Junior outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer led Saint Rose with a combined 22 kills. She added 34 digs. Senior setter
Sam Kubik distributed 72 assists, while junior libero
Tina Ceriello totaled 52 digs, good for 7.43 digs per set, on the day.

After using a 7-1 run to break a 14-14 first set deadlock, the Golden Knights cruised in the second and third frames vs. Bloomfield (0-6).

Sophomore middle hitter
Kyla Archie topped Saint Rose with nine kills on .533 hitting. Kubik dished out 29 assists, while Ceriello recorded 20 digs.

Sophomore libero Junelly Marrero recorded 23 digs for Bloomfield, who had a quartet of players with four kills apiece.

NYIT (6-1) used a 7-0 run to take the opening set, before overcoming a late Golden Knight second set advantage. Saint Rose was able to stave off elimination with an extra time third set victory. The stanza featured 14 ties. The Golden Knights pushed hard for a fifth and decisive set, taking a 23-22 lead, but NYIT, an NCAA Tournament squad last fall, tallied the final three points to wrap it up.

Senior outside hitter Tiffany Verni led the Bears with 21 kills and added 14 digs. Junior setter Karley Brewster passed out 31 assists and freshman libero Jamie Yonker elevated 42 Saint Rose attacks.

Schweitzer paced the Golden Knights with her third "double-double" of the fall, totaling 14 kills and 22 digs. Kubik also had a "double-double" of 43 assists and 14 digs. Ceriello registered 32 digs.

Saint Rose competes next on Saturday, September 8
th when it hosts a "Soap for Hope" tri-match with Nyack and Roberts Wesleyan. The action begins at 2:00 pm.
