WALTHAM, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose softball team split a
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Bentley this afternoon. The Golden Knights (10-11/5-2 NE10) took the second game 7-0 after dropping the first game 3-1.
Junior outfielder
Astasia Myler led the Saint Rose attack by going a combined 4-for-7 with three RBI and a run scored. Senior infielder
Taylor Solomon added four hits in eight at-bats, a run scored and an RBI.
The Golden Knights got on the board quickly in the nightcap, plating three unearned runs in the first. Myler drove home freshman infielder
Ryane Brush and senior outfielder
Katie Shevlin on a two-out double. Solomon followed with an RBI single to score Myler.
Saint Rose tacked on two unearned runs in the fourth and an additional pair of runs in the seventh. The output was more than enough for freshman right-hander
Emily Kurtzner to earn the complete game win. She only allowed five hits to garner the first shutout of her Saint Rose career.
The Falcons (9-18/6-8 NE10) scored in each of the first three innings to take the opener. Brush singled home junior infielder
Briana Bowen for the lone Saint Rose run in the third. Myler went 3-for-4 in defeat.
Both teams are scheduled to play at home on Tuesday. The Golden Knights will host Le Moyne in an Upstate Challenge game at 3:00 pm. Bentley entertains Assumption at 4:00 pm.
