EASTON, Mass. – Freshman infielder
Ryane Brush went a combined 3-for-6 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored as The College of Saint Rose swept a
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Stonehill this afternoon. The Golden Knights (9-10/4-1 NE10) won by scores of 5-1 and 3-1.
"Our freshmen pitchers did a tremendous job keeping their hitters off-balance today, while the offense and defense played 14 innings of confident and resilient softball," said Saint Rose head coach
Abby Arceneaux.
Junior outfielder
Astasia Myler began the day's scoring with a solo homer to left-center in the second. The visitors tacked on a pair of runs in the fourth on a Brush home run, then added an unearned run in the fifth.
Senior catcher
Sydney Cimini led off the sixth with a double and came around to score on a single by junior infielder
Beth Jones. The Skyhawks (4-15/3-6 NE10) pushed across a run in the seventh against freshman right-hander
Thalia Santiago for the final margin.
Myler and Cimini each had a pair of hits in the opener, while junior infielder
Briana Bowen scored twice.
After Stonehill scored a run in the bottom of the first in the nightcap, the Golden Knights pushed across a pair of unearned runs in the third. Saint Rose added an insurance run on a fielder's choice in the sixth, which was more than enough support for freshman right-hander
Emily Kurtzner in her four hitter.
Senior designated player
Dana Nicoletti went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the second game. Brush and senior outfielder
Katie Shevlin each had two hits and scored a run.
Both teams are scheduled to play tomorrow. Saint Rose travels to Bentley for a noon doubleheader, while the Skyhawks host Le Moyne.
