PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose broke open a 1-0 game with four runs in the fourth to take the opener 7-2, before dropping the nightcap 11-0 at Northeast-10 Conference divisional rival Pace University this afternoon.
Junior first baseman
Nicolas Teitter went 4-for-4 with a solo home run in the ninth and drove in four runs while senior shortstop
Mark Powell finished 3-for-4 to propel the Golden Knights (14-16/7-8 NE10) in the first game. Freshman second baseman
Francisco Infante went 2-for-4 to help the cause.
On the mound, junior southpaw
Brandon Budlong scattered six hits and gave up a pair runs throughout 7.0 innings of work before handing the ball to freshman right-hander
Michael Hughes who surrendered just one hit throughout the final two frames.
Teitter smacked a two-run base hit to account for most of the damage in the fourth.
Looking ahead, the two squads are scheduled to conclude their weekend series with a noon game tomorrow.
