GOLDEN KNIGHTS SWEPT AT ADELPHI

Cimini finishes 3-for-5 with an RBI

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose softball team was swept in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader at Adelphi this afternoon. The Golden Knights (10-14/5-5 NE10) fell by scores of 5-2 and 8-2

Saint Rose got on the board first in the opener when senior catcher Sydney Cimini doubled home senior infielder Taylor Solomon with two outs in the second. Senior outfielder Katie Shevlin added to the Golden Knights lead in the fifth, plating freshman outfielder Alissa Folts with a double.

Back-to-back home runs by junior catcher Nicolette Cuccio and senior infielder Brenna Martini gave the hosts a 3-2 lead after five. The Panthers (19-15-1/11-4-1 NE10) tacked on two more insurance runs in the sixth. Junior right-hander Jessica Vadala made it stand up, allowing just two hits across her 2.2-inning relief appearance to earn the win.

Cimini finished the opener 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, while senior designated player Dana Nicoletti went 2-for-4.

Adelphi broke open a 4-2 game with a four-run sixth in the nightcap. Freshman infielder Ryane Brush went 1-for-3 with a run scored for Saint Rose. Cimini was 1-for-2 in the second game to wind up 3-for-5 with an RBI on the day.

The teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader tomorrow at noon.
