CLERMONT, Fla. – Senior catcher
Sydney Cimini went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI as The College of Saint Rose defeated Lewis 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
Cimini plated two with a first-inning single as the Golden Knights (2-6) got out to a quick 4-0 lead. In her next at-bat, the backstop blasted a solo homer to help Saint Rose add pair of insurance runs in the third.
The victory helped the Golden Knights salvage a split after falling to Concordia 5-1 in earlier action.
Concordia (1-3) rallied for five runs in the third to take the opener. Senior designated player Sarah Ross hit a grand slam to highlight the half inning.
"After a tough loss, the bats came alive with some great AB's and timely hits," said Saint Rose head coach
Abby Arceneaux. "Paired with a gritty defensive performance and solid pitching, it was a good win against a strong team."
The Golden Knights conclude their time in Florida with a pair of games tomorrow. Saint Rose faces #1 Minnesota State-Mankato at 2:00 pm and Mary at 4:30 pm.
