SAINT ROSE COMPLETES WEEKEND SWEEP OF CLAFLIN

Golden Knights Manufacture Their Highest Scoring Output In Nine Years

ORANGEBURG, S.C.–The College of Saint Rose had its most prolific offensive output in nine years with today's 20-1 victory at Claflin University. In the process, the Golden Knights (4-3) swept the three-game weekend series and scored the most runs since a 22-14 home victory versus Saint Michael's on April 26, 2010.

"We got a ton of contributions from a lot of different people and we played very well in all aspects of the game. It was a great start to a tough trip," said head coach Wayne Jones.

Ten players had at least one hit to propel the Saint Rose attack. Senior shortstop Mark Powell finished 4-for-5 with four RBI and a two-run homer to extend his hitting streak to five games. Also, senior third baseman Joe Foran drove in four runs while senior left fielder Matt McKinnon went 2-for-4 with a three-run triple in the seventh.

Senior center fielder Brian Uliana, sophomore second baseman Andrew Pedone, freshman center fielder Connor Farrington, and junior first baseman Nicolas Teitter all had two hits apiece as well.

On the mound, junior southpaw Brandon Budlong fanned nine without issuing a walk and allowed a run on five hits throughout 6.0 innings of work to run his record to 2-0 on the year. Freshmen right-handers Francisco Infante, Cameron Anderson, and Sean McGuinnes surrendered just a pair of hits throughout the final 3.0 frames.

Junior shortstop Grayland Fowler and junior catcher Clyde Parker had two hits apiece for the Panthers (2-16).

Looking ahead, Saint Rose travels to Augusta tomorrow to face Paine University at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Panthers have a 3:00 pm home doubleheader Thursday versus Saginaw Valley State.
