ORANGEBURG, S.C.–The College of Saint Rose opened its week-long southern trip on a high note by sweeping Saturday's doubleheader at Claflin University. The Golden Knights (3-3) took the opener 6-0 and won the nightcap 12-5.

Junior left-hander
Greg Musk tossed a four-hit shutout in the first game to pick up the win. He was backed by senior left fielder
Matt McKinnon and sophomore second baseman
Andrew Pedone. McKinnon finished 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI while Pedone went 2-for-4 with two RBI as well. Senior shortstop
Mark Powell also had a pair of hits, including a triple.

The Golden Knights pushed across a run in all but the first and fifth innings of the seven-inning affair.

Junior first baseman
Nicolas Teitter tripled to lead off the second inning and came across two batters later on a sacrifice fly off the bat of junior right fielder
Alexander Koshgarian. Pedone made it 3-0 an inning later with a two-run double, and McKinnon drove in Koshgarian after the latter doubled to lead off the fourth.

McKinnon had a sacrifice fly that scored freshman designated hitter
Samuel Brioso in the sixth. Powell tripled to start the seventh and scored the game's final run when senior third baseman
Joe Foran flied to center.

In the finale, the Golden Knights scored four times in the first and twice more in the second to put themselves in control. Koshgarian went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Teitter and McKinnon drove in two runs apiece. Sophomore right-hander
John Braun hurled 2.0 innings of no-hit ball out of the bullpen.

Looking ahead, the two teams will conclude their three-game weekend series this afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:00 pm.
