SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The College of Saint Rose rebounded from 3-0 and 4-2 deficits only to fall 6-4 at
Northeast-10 Conference divisional rival American International this afternoon.
Â
Senior third baseman
Joe Foran finished 2-for-4, while sophomore second baseman
Andrew Pedone, junior right fielder
Alexander Koshgarian, and senior left fielder
Matt McKinnon drove in one run each to lead the Golden Knights (9-7/2-1 NE10) attack.
Â
Junior left-hander Nick Kennedy allowed only one earned run on seven hits over the distance to propel the Yellow Jackets (10-10/2-3 NE10). Sophomore third baseman Nick Costanza and sophomore right-fielder Matt Krause both finished 3-for-5 to lead the offense. Also, sophomore first baseman Andrew Ciacciarelli wound up 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Â
Saint Rose got on the board in the fourth when junior first baseman
Nicolas Teitter belted a two-out single to left and came around two batters later on a Koshgarian base hit. McKinnon then drove home senior catcher
Tom Moore with a sacrifice fly in the fifth to get the Golden Knights to within a run.
Â
American International added one in the sixth, before junior designated hitter
Kenny Fils-Aime scored on an error and Pedone smacked a two-out base hit up the middle that pushed across senior center fielder
Brian Uliana with the tying run.
Â
However, the Yellow Jackets took the lead for good in the seventh and tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to snap a three-game skid.
Â
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is back on the diamond tomorrow with a 6:30 pm game at Nyack. The contest will be held at Palisades Credit Union Park in Rockland. Meanwhile, American International has a 3:30 pm home date tomorrow versus Bloomfield.
