SAINT ROSE CAPS REGULAR SEASON WITH DECISIVE VICTORY

Golden Knights to Host Bentley in NE10 Championship Quarterfinal Sunday

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.-The College of Saint Rose shot better than 50.0 percent from the floor for the tenth time this year to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University 84-64 in its regular-season finale tonight. The Golden Knights buried 55.4 percent (31-for-56) of their shots from the floor, including 63.2 percent (12-for-19) from the arc, got 32 points from their bench, and engineered 26 assists on 31 field goals.

Saint Rose will now host Bentley in an NE10 Championship Quarterfinal Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights are the second-seed out of the Southwest Division, while the Falcons are the third seed from the Northeast Division. Saint Rose upended host Bentley 81-73 in this year's lone meeting between the two squads.

"It was nice finishing off our regular season with a road win. Handing out 26 assists on 31 baskets is really unselfish and a key for us as we head into the postseason," said assistant coach Mike Perno on tonight's triumph.

Senior forward Julian Lipinski went 7-for-10 from the field on the way to a game-high 17 points. Junior guard Shane Herrity finished with 12 points, a season-high eight assists, and five rebounds; while sophomore guard Michael Wearne and senior forward Jack Jones added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Sophomore forward Peyton Wejnert led Pace with 15 points.

Saint Rose built a 43-30 halftime lead and then put the game out of reach by canning four of its first five 3-point attempts of the second half that yielded a 25-point, 63-38, cushion with 12:52 remaining.
Notes: Saint Rose has now won 20-games in back-to-back seasons. The Golden Knights have also won four of their last five and are 8-4 on the road, where they own a +2.7 scoring margin despite being outscored 143-127 from the foul line throughout those 12 contests. Five players are averaging between 14.2 and 9.5 points on the year. Saint Rose has put five players in twin-figures scoring six times this season and has had four drop in at least 10 points seven other times, including tonight. Furthermore, six players pulled off the feat in an 88-75 victory against visiting Southern New Hampshire on January 17. Senior guard Mical-Ryan Boyd and Lipinski are the top point producers. Lipinski, who has been in double-figures in each of the last six games, is scoring at a 13.6 ppg clip and is pulling down 6.9 rebounds on a regular basis. He is still second in the NE10 with 1.5 blocks and stands 10th in rebounding. Junior forward Matt Cerutti is sixth among the league leaders in rebounding (7.3) and is 10th in FG% (.534). As a team, Saint Rose is remains second in the NE10 in scoring defense (68.1) and blocks (3.6), and is fifth in field goal percentage defense (43.3). This evening the Golden Knights won the turnover battle for the 18th time this season. They are 14-4 in those games and have a +1.5 turnover margin on the year.
