SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The College of Saint Rose shot 43.1 percent from the field during this afternoon's 68-42 AIC Holiday Classic victory against Cheyney University.
The Golden Knights (6-4), which got out to a 22-12 lead after the opening period, put three players in double figures. Junior guard
Cameron Graupman topped the victors with a career-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Senior guard
Ashley Vanderwall and senior forward
Karissa Birthwright tossed in 11 points apiece. Birthwright, who went 5-of-7 from the field, grabbed nine rebounds.
"Today was a great team win," said Saint Rose Head Coach
Karen Haag. "We got contributions up and down our lineup."
Saint Rose held Cheyney to five points in the second period en route to a 38-17 advantage at the break. The Golden Knights, who shot 46.7 percent from the field in the first half, stretched their lead to as many as 29 in the non-conference victory.
Senior forward Marlon Herring topped Cheyney (0-12) with 16 points. Senior guard Shania Stamper added 10 points.

The Tournament concludes tomorrow afternoon. Cheyney takes on the host Yellow Jackets at 1:30, while Saint Rose plays Bloomfield afterwards. Fans that are unable to make it to Springfield can follow all the action live on
