GOLDEN KNIGHTS UPEND NEW HAVEN 65-53

Saint Rose Outscores Chargers 22-5 in Second Quarter

ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose women's basketball team used a 24-5 first half run to defeat visiting New Haven 65-53 in this afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference game.

Senior guard Ashley Vanderwall  led all players with 18 points on 50.0 percent shooting. Sophomore forward Nina Fedullo, who went 5-of-7 from the field, added a career-high 11 points and five rebounds as Saint Rose (4-3/2-3 NE10) won its second-straight game.

"Today was a great team win," said Saint Rose Head Coach Karen Haag. "We got contributions on both ends of the floor this afternoon. Ashley shot the ball very well and the team showed a lot of grit by erasing an 11-point first quarter deficit."

New Haven (5-3/1-2 NE10) put three players in double figures on the day. Sophomore guard Brie Pergola topped the team with 16 points. Senior center Katia Oge and freshman forward Camryn DeBose tossed in 10 apiece, while senior guard Alexandria Kerr was a force on the block, grabbing 16 rebounds to go along with nine points.

Down 20-9 early, the Golden Knights (4-3/2-3 NE10) turned things around in the second period. Saint Rose outscored the Chargers 22-5 in the quarter to hold a 33-25 halftime lead. The Golden Knights proceeded to increase their advantage in third to go up 18, 51-33, entering the fourth.

New Haven went on a run to make it seven-point contest with six minutes remaining.  However, junior guards Cameron Graupman and Courtney Clasen answered with back-to-back treys to push it back to 13. From there, the Chargers could get no closer than 10.

Both teams have NE10 games up next. Saint Rose travels to Adelphi Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Fans that are unable to make it to Garden City, N.Y. to attend the game can follow all the action live on gogoldenknights.tv on NE10 Now or follow along with live stats.
