SAINT ROSE FALLS AT BENTLEY 3-1

Schweitzer Tallies 18 Kills in Defeat


WALTHAM, Mass. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team fell 3-1 this afternoon at Bentley. The Golden Knights (16-10/7-5 NE10) dropped the Northeast-10 Conference match by scores of 25-16, 22-25, 13-25, 17-25.
 
Junior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer led all players with 18 kills on .306 hitting. Sophomore outside hitter Brenna Goebel finished off eight rallies, while senior middle hitter Shayna Webber recorded seven kills and four total blocks. Junior libero Tina Ceriello topped all players with 20 digs, while senior setter Sam Kubik dished out a match-high 36 assists.
 
Bentley (10-16/6-6 NE10) had two players with double digit kill totals. Sophomore outside hitter Kirsten Segaline had 15 on .333 hitting, while junior middle blocker Rachel Bruno registered 10 on .304 hitting. Senior setter Krista Campbell tallied a "double-double" of 35 assists and 13 digs in the win.
 
After Saint Rose used a 13-2 run to take the opening set, Bentley capitalized upon a pair of Golden Knight attack errors to break a 22-22 second set deadlock. The Falcons hit .424 in the third set to keep momentum rolling; before closing out the match on an 12-5 sprint. The hosts hit. 309 on the afternoon.
 
The final weekend of regular season play commences on Friday night at 7:00 pm. Saint Rose will host Southern New Hampshire, while Bentley plays at Pace.

Notes: The Golden Knights checked in at No. 9 in the opening NCAA East Regional Rankings…Saint Rose has recorded NE10-bests of 212 total blocks and 2.23 blocks per set…Webber tops the conference with 1.17 blocks per set, while sophomore middle hitter Kyla Archie (0.98) ranks fifth in the category…Ceriello who was named the NE10 Libero of the Week five times this season, is atop the NE10 in digs per set (5.73) and total digs (539)…Kubik, second among the league leaders with 921 total assists, ranks third on the Saint Rose career assist chart with 2,679 career assists.
