GOLDEN KNIGHTS COME BACK TO WIN AT STONEHILL, 3-1

Webber Records a Career-High 20 Kills in the Road Victory

EASTON, Mass. - Senior middle hitter Shayna Webber recorded a career-high 20 kills on .405 hitting as The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team won 3-1 at Stonehill tonight. The Golden Knights picked up the Northeast-10 Conference road victory by scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19.

Sophomore outside hitter Brenna Goebel tallied 14 kills on .300 hitting and 10 digs for her second career "double-double". Senior setter Sam Kubik equaled a career-high with 54 assists, while junior libero Tina Ceriello totaled 32 digs, a season-best. Junior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer added nine kills and 12 digs, while freshman setter Macey Drezek elevated 17 Stonehill attacks.

The comeback victory was keyed by strong defense and fast starts. Saint Rose (16-9/7-4 NE10) held the host Skyhawks to .093 hitting in the final three sets, including .073 in the fourth and final frame. The Golden Knights totaled 12 blocks, including two solos by Goebel.

After dropping the first set, Saint Rose hit .393 in the second to tie things up. The Golden Knights proceeded to get out to leads of 9-3 and 14-5 in the third set and 6-2 in the fourth. These early advantages allowed the visitors to maintain control when Stonehill (10-9/6-5) would go on a run.

The Skyhawks, now 7-2 at home, had senior outside hitter Allyson Hughes and senior outside hitter Megan Pennino register double figures in kills.  Hughes, who entered the match second in the NE10 with 3.61 kills per set, led the way with 11 kills, while Pennino had 10. Junior defensive specialist Rachel Dunlavy, one of three Stonehill players with more than 10 digs, recorded 22 digs, while freshman setter Lauren Wilke distributed 25 assists.

Both programs are in action tomorrow afternoon. The Golden Knights play at Bentley at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Stonehill has its "Senior Day" match vs. Le Moyne at 2:00 pm.
