Webber and Archie Combine for 25 Kills and 12 Blocks in NE10 Road Win



MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophomore middle hitter Kyla Archie and senior middle hitter Shayna Webber combined for 25 kills and 12 total blocks as The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team picked up a crucial 3-2 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Saint Anselm. The Golden Knights (13-8/4-3 NE10) won this afternoon's match by scores of 25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 27-29, 17-15.
 
Webber topped all players with 13 kills on .310 hitting, while Archie had a dozen. Both players totaled six blocks apiece. Senior setter Sam Kubik registered 41 assists and 13 digs for her seventh "double-double" of the fall. She added six kills in the win. Junior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer tossed in nine kills and 13 digs, while junior libero Tina Ceriello had a game-high 25 digs.

"This was an important win for us," said Saint Rose Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "We did a nice job fighting and keeping our control throughout the match. Our serving was great and we were able to get into runs at the crucial points of the match."

The most crucial point was when the deciding fifth set was tied at nine following a back-and-forth afternoon. The Golden Knights used a 5-1 run to open things up. Freshman defensive specialist Megan Mayer served up three aces during the stretch.

The Hawks (12-8/4-4 NE10), which saw their three-match win streak snapped, received 11 or more kills from a trio of players. Senior outside hitter Sarah Lowery led the way with 12, while junior outside hitter Catie McCarthy and sophomore middle blocker Elise Jolly finished 11 rallies apiece. Senior setter Jewel Hays became the program's all-time assist leader in the second set today. She finished with 48 assists and 16 digs.

Conference play continues on Friday at 7:00 pm. The Golden Knights will host Merrimack, while Saint Anselm visits Adelphi.
Notes: The Golden Knights have recorded NE10-bests of 177 total blocks and 2.29 blocks per set…Webber tops the Conference with 1.17 blocks per set…Archie (1.06) ranks third in the category…Ceriello who has been named NE10 Libero of the Week four times this season, is atop the NE10 in digs per set (5.75) and total digs (437)…Kubik, second among the league leaders with 737 total assists, ranks third on the Saint Rose career assist chart…The co-captain has 2,495 career assists, with Lisa Domermuth '95 second at 2,755…Kubik has seven "double-doubles" this season, while Schweitzer has six.
