SAINT ROSE SWEEPS AT SAINT MICHAEL'S

Webber Registers 11 Kills in NE10 Victory


COLCHESTER, Vt. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team held host Saint Michael's to -.011 hitting in tonight's Northeast-10 Conference sweep (25-9, 25-19, 25-21). Senior middle hitter Shayna Webber led all players with 11 kills on .280 hitting and seven blocks. Junior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer tossed in nine kills for Saint Rose (12-8/3-3 NE10).
 
Senior setter Sam Kubik ran the offense, which had four players with five or more kills, to the tune of 28 assists, while junior libero Tina Ceriello recorded 17 digs.

"Tonight was a nice three-set win as we move onto our second match of the weekend," said Saint Rose Head Coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera.
 
Saint Michael's (0-12/0-7 NE10) received seven kills from freshman middle blocker Grace Fornabia. Sophomore setter Katy Konow registered 20 assists and eight digs, while junior outside hitter Tanner Barton topped all players with 18 digs.
 
The Golden Knights used a 14-3 run and hit .323 to take the opening set. Schweitzer totaled six kills in the frame. A 7-0 Saint Rose stretch was the key to winning the second set. Set number three was tied at 20 before Webber finished a pair of rallies to help complete the sweep.
 
Both teams have NE10 matches tomorrow afternoon. The Golden Knights travel to Manchester, N.H. to face Saint Anselm at 2:00 pm. Meanwhile, Saint Michael's has its "Hope Happens Here Mental Health Awareness Match" vs. Le Moyne at 1:00 pm.

Notes: The Golden Knights have recorded NE10-bests of 164 total blocks and 2.27 blocks per set…Webber tops the Conference with 1.17 blocks per set…Sophomore middle hitter Kyla Archie (1.05) ranks third in the category…Ceriello, who has been named NE10 Libero of the Week four times this season, is atop the NE10 in digs per set (5.80) and total digs (412)…Kubik, second among the league leaders with 696 total assists, ranks third on the Saint Rose career assist chart…The co-captain has 2,454 career assists, with Lisa Domermuth '95 second at 2,755…Kubik and Schweitzer each have six "double-doubles" this season.
