MANCHESTER, N.H. - The College of Saint Rose began the game on the wrong end of a 23-5 run as host Saint Anselm defeated the Golden Knights 89-58 in
Northeast-10 Conference action on this evening.
Sophomore forward
Leah Dollard led Saint Rose (9-10/7-6 NE10), who trailed 31-10 after the opening period, with 13 points. Junior forward
Karissa Birthwright added 11 as the Golden Knights had their three-game win streak snapped.
Saint Anselm (12-9/8-6 NE10), who had four players in double figures, ran off the game's first seven points and 18 of the initial 21 to take control early. The Hawks, which led by as many as 32, received a "double-double" of 15 points and 15 boards from sophomore forward Shannon Ryan. Senior guard Clairee Putnam also had 15, while senior guard Ali Glennon tossed in 14.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose has a 1:00 pm conference date Saturday at Merrimack in North Andover, Mass. Saint Anselm is off until Wednesday, January 31 for a 5:30 pm NE10 game at Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H.
