NYACK, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team held its opponents to a -.008 hitting percentage as it swept two non-conference contests at the Nyack tri-match. The Golden Knights (8-8/0-2
Northeast-10 Conference) defeated Mercy, 3-1 and Nyack 3-0.
"We were very focused and executed our game plans," said head coach
Vanessa Volpe-Rivera. "Our serving was aggressive and we found the court well."
Sophomore outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer led the Golden Knights with 29 kills, including a career-high of 16 against Mercy, on the afternoon.
In the opener, freshman
Brenna Goebel contributed 14 kills on .273 hitting. The rookie added 10 digs for her first career "double-double". Junior middle hitter
Shayna Webber tossed in 12 kills with a team-high .550 hitting percentage as Saint Rose broke a four-match losing streak.
Saint Rose served up nine aces against the Mavericks (3-12).
Against Nyack (4-15), Schweitzer led the offense with 13 kills. Webber added seven on .375 hitting.
The Golden Knights' defense, which totaled 124 digs, received 42 digs from sophomore libero

Sam Kubik dished out 71 assists in the wins. The co-captain had 17 digs against Mercy.
The trio of teams all return to Conference play on Tuesday night. Saint Rose travels to Le Moyne, Mercy receives a visit from Queens, and Nyack visits Bloomfield.
