ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose chalked up its third win in the last four matches with tonight's 1-0 victory against visiting
Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's.
Â
Sophomore midfielder
Wari Isaac provided the lone strike when he collected a through ball and dribbled twice, before deking the Purple Knights keeper and slipping a shot from 20-yards out inside the far left post with 34:48 expired.
Â
"Earning three points in the NE10 is not an easy task. We did not play our best tonight against a very dangerous and determined Saint Michael's team. However, I was happy to see us use the experience we gained from our earlier matches to earn a resilient victory," said head coach
John Ciano.
Â
The contest was evenly played with both sides manufacturing 13 shots, although Saint Michael's (1-5-1/0-5-0 NE10) strung together an 8-3 corner kick advantage.
Â
In goal, sophomore
Gianni Carillo came up with three saves for the Golden Knights (3-5-0/3-2-0 NE10) as did freshman Leland Gazo at the other end.
Â
Going forward, both squads are back on the pitch for conference matches Saturday. Saint Rose heads to North Easton, Mass. to take on Stonehill at 1:00 pm, while the Purple Knights host Bentley at noon.
Notes: Saint Rose is 3-1 in one-goal games this season…Twelve different players have figured in the scoring column thus far.
