SAINT ROSE WINS SECOND STRAIGHT IN DOUBLE OVERTIME TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.-The College of Saint Rose chalked up its second double-overtime triumph within a four-day period to remain unbeaten with this afternoon's 2-1 victory at Northeast-10 Conference rival Merrimack.

Sophomore forward Nina Predanic drove home a free kick to the top-right corner three minutes into the second extra session to conclude a closely played game. Predanic previously put the Golden Knights (6-0-1/5-0-0 NE10) up 1-0 with another direct kick with 64:31 expired. The Warriors (4-3-0/1-3-0 NE10) then deadlocked it 15 minutes later.

Sophomore keeper Marika Laurendeau was again outstanding between the posts with a career-best nine saves, including seven after halftime. Meanwhile, senior outside back Totianyu Guadalupe quarterbacked a young defense that stood tall against a Merrimack offense that generated 10 shots-on-goal.

"I am extremely proud of the effort and desire of our girls to play to the final whistle. Our defense held strong and Marika made some exceptional saves. We narrowly missed some very good offensive opportunities. Nina was brilliant with her two strikes. This was a great team win," said head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.

Senior forward Victoria Carter accounted for the Merrimack goal, while senior keeper Molly Meehan turned aside seven threats on target.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return home Wednesday to take on Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne at 6:00 pm. Meanwhile, the Warriors have a 7:00 pm league meeting that night at American International in Springfield.
