Orangeburg, N.Y- The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team used a balanced attack to sweep Dominican 3-0. The visiting Golden Knights (6-4) won 25-16, 25-20, 25-14.
In the opening set, Saint Rose reeled off eight of nine points to break open what was a 7-7 score. Sophomore outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer totaled six of her team-best 10 kills in the set.
After the Chargers (0-8) knotted the second set at 19, the Golden Knights tallied six of the final seven points. Junior middle hitter
Shayna Webber registered two kills and half a block down the stretch of the middle frame, which had eight ties. Webber recorded a .563 attack percentage and nine kills on the night.
Sophomore defensive specialist
Madison Gerace aced half of her first rotation serves as the Golden Knights jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the final set.
Saint Rose received many contributions from its rookies in the victory. Outside hitter
Brenna Goebel totaled six kills on .250 hitting percentage, while middle blockers
Victoria Fogg and
Kyla Archie had four blocks each.
Schweitzer topped the Golden Knights with seven digs, while junior setter
Sam Kubik passed out 22 assists.
Saint Rose competes against Adelphi and Daemen at home on Saturday. The
Northeast-10 Conference match vs. the Panthers will begin at 11:00 am. Dominican hosts East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
