EDINBORO, Pa. - The College of Saint Rose volleyball team opened its season by splitting a pair of contests at the Rebich Investments Invitational, hosted by Edinboro University. The Golden Knights (1-1) defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 3-2 (27-25, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9) and fell to Edinboro 3-2 (19-25, 26-24, 25-23, 16-25, 8-15).
In the opener, freshman outside hitter
Graciela Cruz led the offensive effort with 19 kills. Sophomore outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer added 15 for Saint Rose. Junior setter
Sam Kubik dished out 50 assists, while Schweitzer, Kubik and sophomore libero
Tina Ceriello combined for 59 digs.
Against Edinboro, Schweitzer registered a team-high 14 kills, while Kubik totaled 29 assists. In the back, Ceriello dug 28 attacks to lead all players.
Saint Rose faces Davis and Elkins and Fairmont State tomorrow.
