ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose defeated American International 7-3 this afternoon to garner its first
Northeast-10 Conference victory of the season.
"Any NE10 game is a hard game to win," said senior midfielder
Joe Buono, who scored his first collegiate goal in the triumph. "It was hard to work through, but the guys showed up in the fourth quarter to finish the game."
Freshman attack
Jordyn Marchiano scored twice to lead the Golden Knights (2-7/1-4 NE10). Sophomore midfielder
Justin Feldman dished out a pair of assists, while sophomore attack
Carter Badour added a goal and an assist. In goal, sophomore
Austin Degener made 12 saves to earn his first collegiate victory.
The Golden Knights won 9-of-13 face-offs, including a 6-of-8 performance from sophomore midfielder
Nicolas Johnson.
After the Yellow Jackets (0-12/0-7 NE10) made it a 3-2 game with 12:22 left in the third quarter, Saint Rose held the visitors scoreless for the next 20:30 to ensure the win.
NE10 action continues Saturday afternoon when Saint Rose hosts its Senior Day vs. No. 5 Merrimack at 5pm. American International travels to Bentley for a 3pm contest.
