GOLDEN KNIGHTS CLOSE SEASON WITH WIN AT SAINT MICHAEL'S

Saint Rose wins second in a row, 7-6

COLCHESTER, Vt.–Senior midfielder Josh Frese recorded two goals and two assists as The College of Saint Rose closed the season with a 7-6 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Saint Michael's on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore attack Carter Badour added three goals for the Golden Knights (4-11/ 3-8 NE10), who won their last two contests.

"Today was the way to end the season for our seniors who have meant a ton to our program," said Head Coach Jim Morrissey. "The ability of the players to stay focused at season's end and to grind out two tough victories on the road says a lot about the character of our guys and can be used as building blocks for next season."

Saint Rose outscored Saint Michael's (2-10/1-10 NE10) 4-0 over a 26:31 span to erase a halftime deficit.

The Purple Knights, which received two goals from freshman midfielder Anthony Sullivan, were able to make it a one-goal game with 7:29 to go, but they could not get the equalizer on the Saint Rose defense. Sophomore goalie Liam Guiton, under siege to the tune of a 31-13 second half shot disadvantage, totaled 13 saves, while freshman defenseman James Murphy caused a game-high three turnovers.

"Our young defense, led by Guiton in goal, did an outstanding job handling some real talented offensive players from Saint Michael's," said Morrissey.

The Golden Knights, which totaled three man-up goals, got a goal and an assist eac from freshman attack Jordyn Marchiano and junior midfielder Matt Graham.

Badour led the team with 29 points, 25 goals and four assists on the year; while Graham added 26 points (18 goals, eight assists). Marchiano had 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) as a rookie.
