ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose softball team was swept by Le Moyne in a
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader. The Golden Knights (9-18/7-6 NE10) dropped the first game 3-1 and fell in the second game 10-5.
In the opener, the Golden Knights got on the board first with a run in the second. Sophomore center fielder
Astasia Myler and junior designated player
Jadyn Costello began the frame with back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt by junior infielder
Taylor Solomon, junior catcher
Sydney Cimini singled home Myler.
Le Moyne (20-16/4-9 NE10) pieced together a trio of hits to knot the game in the third.
The visiting Dolphins took the lead in the fifth when senior designated player Kelly Mascari drove a two-run homer to left.
In the second game, Le Moyne plated a pair of runs in its first trip to the plate.
The Golden Knights got them right back in their half when senior shortstop
Carly Wood followed a leadoff walk by junior designated player
Dana Nicoletti with a home run to left.
Back-to-back singles with two out got the Dolphins a run in the second.
Saint Rose rallied for three runs in the third to take the lead. Junior left fielder
Katie Shevlin, who led off with a single, and Wood crossed home on a Myler double. Costello plated Myler with a single.
The Dolphins made it a one-run game with a tally in the fourth.
Le Moyne batted around in its sixth-run fifth. Mascari hit her second home run of the afternoon in the frame.
Junior right-hander Alexis Eastman garnered both victories on the mound while, senior center fielder Samantha Riley went 6-for-8 on the day for the Dolphins.
Next on the schedule for Saint Rose is a doubleheader at New Haven on Saturday. The Dolphins play two on Saturday at Southern Connecticut.
