SAINT ROSE SWEPT IN DOUBLEHEADER BY ADELPHI

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose was swept in a doubleheader by Adelphi this afternoon.  The Golden Knights lost the Northeast-10 Conference game 10-4 and dropped the second non-league game 8-0.

In the opener, the visiting Panthers (27-12-1/17-5 NE10) put up a four-spot in the first.  Adelphi added another tally in the second on a sacrifice fly by junior infielder Brenna Martini.

The Golden Knights (8-16/6-4 NE10) batted around in a four-run third. Sophomore center fielder Astasia Myler and junior designated player Jadyn Costello worked bases-loaded walks before sophomore right fielder Briana Bowen crossed the plate on a Panther miscue. Junior catcher Sydney Cimini then followed with a RBI single to score Myler.

Adelphi added to its advantage with a four-run fifth. Senior right fielder Stephanie Staiano plated a pair with a single in the frame.

The Panthers put another marker on the board in the sixth.

Sophomore right-hander Roma Mazzariello pitched 6.2 innings in relief and registered her first hit of the season at the plate.

In the second game, the Panthers again recorded four first inning runs. Martini then doubled home a pair in the second to give the visitors a 6-0 lead.

Adelphi added runs in the third and fourth to end it early.

The Golden Knights play next on Monday at Pace at 4pm.  Adelphi travels to Pace Wednesday for a NE10 doubleheader starting at 3pm.
