GOLDEN KNIGHTS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH AIC

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose split a doubleheader with American International this afternoon. The Golden Knights won the Northeast-10 Conference game 6-2 and dropped the non-league second game 10-2.

In the opener, the Golden Knights (7-13/5-2 NE10) put together a three-run first inning. The scoring began when sophomore outfielder Astasia Myler singled in junior right-hander Dana Nicoletti.  Junior infielder Taylor Solomon would eventually follow with a two-out double to plate a pair.

Saint Rose added two runs in the second. Junior catcher Sydney Cimini started things off with a triple to center. Sophomore infielder Alina Germinerio then battled back from an 0-2 count to work a walk. Cimini scored on a single by senior infielder Carly Wood and Germinerio crossed the plate on a fielder's choice. The Golden Knights then added an unearned run in the third.

American International (13-12/8-4 NE10) strung together three-straight hits to get on the board in the sixth.

Nicoletti went the distance in her six-hitter.

AIC scored eight unearned runs in the fourth off sophomore right-hander Roma Mazzariello in the nightcap.

Saint Rose plated its pair of runs in the third inning.  Wood doubled off the left field wall to score Nicoletti, before crossing home on a two-out single by junior infielder Jadyn Costello

The Yellow Jackets added a pair of runs in the sixth.

Wood finished 4-7 with two RBI and two runs scored on the day.

Next on the schedule for Saint Rose is an NE10 doubleheader vs. Adelphi on Friday starting at 12 noon. AIC plays two at New Haven on Friday.
