GOLDEN KNIGHTS DEFEAT GEORGIAN COURT, 11-3

An 11-Hit Onslaught Gets a Split

CLERMONT, Fla.–The College of Saint Rose defeated Georgian Court 11-3 today. Senior infielder Kayla Bancroft drove in two on a pair of doubles and scored three runs to lead the 11-hit Golden Knights attack. Earlier in the day, Bentley rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Saint Rose 4-2.

The College jumped out to a 6-0 lead through five innings against Georgian Court.

The Golden Knights capitalized off a Georgian Court miscue to plate three runs in the second. After Bancroft walked to lead off the frame and came around to score on an error, junior designated player Dana Nicoletti and sophomore utility Briana Bowen would eventually follow with two-out RBI hits.

Saint Rose added a pair of runs to its lead in the third. Sophomore outfielder Astasia Myler and Bancroft started things off with hits, before coming around to score on an RBI ground out by sophomore catcher Victoria Hallett and a single to right by sophomore outfielder Erin Maloney respectively. Bancroft plated Bowen in the fifth on an fielder's choice.

After the Lions scored three times in the sixth, Saint Rose responded with five runs in its half to end it.

Four Golden Knights, Bancroft, Nicoletti, Bowen and senior infielder Carly Wood, totaled two hits each in the triumph.

Sophomore pitcher Roma Mazzariello threw 4.2 hitless innings to pick up her first victory of the season. She allowed three runs, one unearned, and two hits in 5.0-plus innings of work. Nicoletti, who had two RBI at the plate, got out of a sixth inning jam to earn the save.

In the Bentley game, jJunior catcher Sydney Cimini went 3-for-3 with a run scored in the loss.
