SPRINGFIELD, Mass.–The College of Saint Rose opened
Northeast-10 Conference play with a pair of wins at American International this afternoon. The visiting Golden Knights (4-10/2-0 NE10) won by scores of 9-3 and 8-5.
"Today's sweep was a total team effort. Our pitchers threw very well and our defense made some big plays when we needed them to. Offensively, we had a lot of quality at bats, with several players having an exceptional day. Dana Nicoletti went 7-for-9 with four runs scored and three RBI on the day. Junior infielder
Jadyn Costello hit a three-run home run as part of her 3-for-5 afternoon.
Saint Rose scored seven runs in its final three at bats in the opener. The visitors took a quick lead, scoring an unearned run in their first at bat. The Yellow Jackets (3-8/0-2 NE10) then rallied for a pair of runs in the second. Saint Rose tied the game in the third when senior infielder
Carly Wood doubled in Nicoletti.
The Golden Knights took a 3-2 lead when Nicoletti scored on a two-out single by sophomore outfielder #Astasia Myler# in the fifth. Costello blasted a pinch-hit three-run home run in the sixth for Saint Rose.
After AIC scored a run in its half of the sixth, Saint Rose added three insurance runs in the seventh. Junior catcher

Kayla Bancroft both had RBI singles.
Nicoletti (2-6) went the distance, scattering five hits and striking out four. Senior right-hander Alyssa Camargo took the loss (1-4).
In the second game, Saint Rose again scored in its first at bat. Nicoletti led off with a single, stole second and would eventually score on a double play ball hit by Wood. The Golden Knights batted around in their five-run fourth. Nicoletti drove in two with a single and sophomore outfielder

Taylor Solomon drove in Myler with two outs in the sixth to close the Golden Knights' scoring.
The Yellow Jackets scored four runs off sophomore right-hander
Roma Mazzariello in the sixth to make things interesting. Only one of the runs was earned.
Mazzariello allowed five runs, two earned over 6.0-plus innings to earn the victory (2-4). Nicoletti earned her second save of the spring. Senior right-hander Jillian Bedard took the loss (1-2) for American International.
Next on the schedule for Saint Rose is Saturday's 12:00 pm conference doubleheader at Pace. Meanwhile, American International hosts a 2:30 pm non-conference twin-bill versus Bridgeport tomorrow.
