SAINT ROSE SHUTS DOWN PANTHERS TO CHALK UP ITS 20TH WIN OF THE SEASON

Golden Knights hold Adelphi to 19.5 points below its season scoring average

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose limited the top scoring team in the Northeast-10 Conference to 19.5 points below its season scoring average to upend Adelphi 85-68 tonight. In doing so, the Golden Knights posted the 17th, 20-win campaign throughout head coach Brian Beaury's 31-season tenure.

"Adelphi is a very tough opponent. I thought our guys were up for that challenge tonight. Our defense was really solid, especially in the second half. We shared the ball exceptionally well too," said Beaury. "As we head down the stretch, we're going to need to be solid defensively and continue to be balanced on the offensive end."

Junior forward Julian Lipinski went 10-for-18 from the floor to tie his career-high of 22 points for the Golden Knights. He also pulled down seven rebounds and turned aside five Panthers shots. Also, junior forward Chris Dorgler filled up the box score to the tune of a season-high 19 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Junior guard Mical-Ryan Boyd also had an all-around ballgame behind 16 points, five boards and four assists.

The first half featured four ties and three lead changes, before the Golden Knights went in the locker room up 35-33 at the break.

Saint Rose (20-6/12-5 NE10) then took off on a 19-8 run midway through the second half that transformed a 57-48 lead into a comfortable 76-56 cushion with 4:32 remaining. Boyd knocked down a jumper to spark the jaunt and then Dorgler hit one himself to cap it.

Junior center Manny Suarez propelled the Panthers (16-9/9-8 NE10) behind a "double-double" of 23 points and 10 boards. Sophomore forward Jack Laffey and junior guard Michael Coffey contributed 19 and 14 points respectively.

Looking ahead, both teams are back on the floor Saturday with 3:30 pm contests. The Golden Knights have a road date at Southern Connecticut State, while Adelphi hosts New Haven.
