PEMBROKE, NC–The College of Saint Rose wrapped its early season-opening weekend with 5-0 and 16-2 losses at UNC Pembroke, which ran its win streak to eight games.
Senior shortstop
Tyler Ungerland doubled and tripled in the nightcap, while junior right-hander
Dominic Razzano allowed a run on three hits throughout 4.2 innings of relief in the opener for the Golden Knights (0-3).
Meanwhile, junior right-hander Matt Fuhr scattered two hits and fanned nine throughout 6.0 innings of shutout ball in the first game to go to 2-0 on the season. Senior first baseman Hayden Buffkin belted a grand slam in the fifth inning of the finale.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose will play a three game series at Francis Marion in South Carolina beginning Saturday, March 4. Meanwhile, UNC Pembroke has a 3:00 pm home date Wednesday versus Lenoir-Rhyne.
