GOLDEN KNIGHTS KEEP ROLLING

Saint Rose has won 10 of its last 12 heading into Saturday's regular-season finale

ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose won its fourth straight and improved to 12-4 at home with tonight's 70-49 triumph versus Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace University. The Golden Knights (22-6/14-5 NE10), who are receiving votes in this week's D2SIDA national media poll, turned 20 Setters turnovers into 24 points and held them to 21.2 points below their season scoring average.

"Tonight's final score isn't indicative of the kind of game we played. Pace challenged us with trapping zones and it took us a while to figure them out. Once again our guys did the little things well and played very good defense holding Pace to just 49 points," said head coach Brian Beaury.

Senior forward Tyler Sayre led four Saint Rose players in double-figures with 18 points. Junior guard Mical-Ryan Boyd and junior forward Jack Jones tossed in 13 apiece, while senior forward Chris Dorgler filled up the box score with 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Golden Knights walked in the locker room up 34-26 at the break and then scored the first 11 points of the second stanza to boost their advantage to 19, 45-26, in the opening 2:30 of the second period. Boyd sandwiched the spurt with a pair of 3-pointers.

Pace (7-19/4-14 NE10) eventually whittled its deficit to eight, 51-43, with 7:53 remaining after freshman forward Peyton Wejnert scored inside. However, Sayre finished a feed from junior guard Jamaal Greenwood to ignite a 9-0 run that put Saint Rose in control to stay behind a 59-43 advantage with 5:24 left.

Sophomore forward Ryan Peterson led the Setters with 16 points, while Wejnert and senior forward Austin Mofunanya finished with 11 and 10 respectively.

Looking ahead, both teams are back on the floor Saturday with 3:30 pm home contests. The Golden Knights will host American International for Senior Day, while the Setters will take on New Haven.
