ALBANY, N.Y. – Twenty-fourth ranked University of the Sciences utilized a 14-0 third quarter run to defeat The College of Saint Rose 64-51 during the final day of the Saint Rose Holiday Classic.

Junior guard
Ashley Vanderwall made 4-of-9 three-pointers en route to a team-high 14 points, while sophomore forward
Leah Dollard added 10 points for the Golden Knights (5-6).

A trio of players recorded double figures for the Devils (8-2). Sophomore guard Jordan Vitelli topped all players with 22 points. Senior guard Sarah Abbonzio tossed in 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, while junior guard Alex Thomas tallied 11.

Saint Rose started the non-conference game strong, opening up a 7-0 lead early on. Vanderwall scored 11 of her points in the first half as the Golden Knights led 25-24 at intermission.

USciences, which shot 52.9 percent (9-for-17) from the arc after the break, outscored the Golden Knights 21-9 in the third period to gain a 45-34 lead going to the final 10 minutes. Saint Rose could never get closer than eight in the final period.

In today's opener, American International defeated Dominican 69-48.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose will host Merrimack on Saturday, December 30. The non-conference game will begin at 2:00 pm. American International (6-7) hosts Assumption on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Dominican (3-8) will visit Post University for a Saturday afternoon CACC game on December 30, while USciences has a non-conference home date on Tuesday versus West Chester.
