ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose gave perennial power Southern New Hampshire all it could handle before falling 2-1 today at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Golden Knights manufactured a 6-4 shot-on-goal advantage, but the Penmen (11-2-1/8-2-1 NE10) struck with the decisive goal in the 62nd minute to run their win streak to five matches.

Senior midfielder Elidon Bardhollari tied the game for Saint Rose (5-8-1/5-5-1 NE10) when he collected the ball on the left flank, deked a pair of defenders, and slipped a shot inside the near post with just two minutes remaining before intermission.

However, Southern New Hampshire countered when senior forward Michael Rowley one-timed home a feed from sophomore midfielder Romain Daniellou. The latter lined a volley to the middle of the area from 40-yards out on the right side.

Previously, junior forward Alex Satrustegui put the Penmen up 1-0 after he finished a pass from sophomore back Chaney Nash-Gibney with 33:51 elapsed.

Sophomore keeper Gianni Carillo made both of his saves after halftime to keep the Golden Knights within striking distance. Junior Daniel Milton was forced to register five saves for Southern New Hampshire.

Saint Rose engineered several potent opportunities throughout the afternoon. Junior midfielder Kyle Clemens redirected a loose ball in the 13th minute that Milton had to scramble backwards to clear off the line. Clemens also drove a dangerous shot that forced Milton to make a diving save to his right in the 55th minute. In the 83rd, sophomore midfielder Niv Fogel ran onto a restart and whistled a shot from 20-yards out that just cleared the crossbar.

Looking ahead, both sides have home conference dates Tuesday. Saint Rose hosts Southern Connecticut State at 5:00 pm, while the Penmen welcome Merrimack for a 7:00 pm encounter.
Senior Day: Bardhollari, David Haston, Ryan Rooney, Suleiman Haruna-iya, and Michael Morris; along with graduate student Justyn Verbraska, were honored prior to today's match in recognition of their outstanding careers.
Notes: Three of the Golden Knights four setbacks in the last nine matches have come at the hands of nationally ranked opponents. The lone exception was today against a Penmen side that has blanked three of its opponents. Fourteen different Saint Rose players have figured in the scoring column this autumn.
