ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose rallied from a 2-1 deficit with three unanswered goals throughout the final 19 minutes to upend visiting
Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm 4-2 today.
Â
Four different players scored for the Golden Knights (10-2-1/9-2-0 NE10) including junior midfielder
Sophia Constantine who had a goal and an assist. Senior back
Totianyu Guadalupe, sophomore midfielder
Deanna Trongone, and sophomore forward
Caitlyn Dabagian also found the back of the net.
Â
Meanwhile, junior forward Corey Murray and sophomore midfielder Kiley Larocque struck for the Hawks (4-7-1/2-7-1 NE10). Junior midfielder Corrine Galarneau set up both goals.
Â
Saint Rose broke through with 36:01 elapsed when Constantine lined a shot from 10-yards out inside the left post to make it a 1-0 match at intermission.
Â
Murray and Larocque then scored seven minutes apart to afford Saint Anselm a 2-1 advantage with 28 minutes remaining. However, Guadalupe beat the Hawks keeper on a penalty kick after a handball in the area at the 70:52 mark.
Â
Two minutes, later Trongone delivered what proved to be the game-winner when she finished a cross off the foot of sophomore midfielder
Eva Frazzoni. Dabagian then added an insurance marker by touching home a Constantine corner from the right flag with 82:00 expired.
Â
Saint Rose engineered an 11-9 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in threats-on-target, and manufactured six corners while yielding only one throughout a picturesque autumn afternoon.
Â
Looking ahead, both sides are on the road for conference matches Tuesday. The Golden Knights head to Long Island to take on #10 Adelphi at 7:00 pm, while Saint Anselm travels to North Easton, Mass. for a 3:00 pm meeting with Stonehill.
Notes: A brief pregame ceremony was held in honor of Faculty and Parents Appreciation Day. Eight of today's 11 starters are either freshmen or sophomores. Today's four goals represent a season high for the team. Sophomore midfielder
Victoria Barris was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Monday. Saint Rose has outshot its opponents by a 200-129 margin on the year. The Golden Knights have also manufactured a 75-29 corner kick advantage. Twelve different players have figured in the scoring column.
