ALBANY-The College of Saint Rose put five players in double-figures scoring for the fourth time this year and pulled away down the stretch to upend
Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm 86-79 today at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights (13-4/5-3 NE-10) turned 12 Hawks turnovers in 20 points and also got 30 points from their bench.

"We had great balance on the offensive end, but it was our ability to come up with some key loose balls down the stretch that was the difference in today's game. Shooting 11-for-12 from the free throw line in the last three minutes proved equally big for us as well," said head coach
Brian Beaury.

Senior forward
Tyler Sayre led the scoring parade with 16 points while senior guard
Chris Dorgler had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Sophomore guard
Shane Herrity also scored 15 points while junior guard
Mical-Ryan Boyd and junior forward
Jack Jones added 12 and 11 respectively. Boyd also pulled down nine boards.

The game featured 13 lead changes and eight ties although the Golden Knights maintained a one or two possession advantage throughout the final 19 minutes. Junior forward
Julian Lipinski drained a jumper with 19:21 to go that deadlocked the game for the final time, 41-41. Boyd then finished inside to put Saint Rose ahead to stay after the Hawks (6-5/4-5 NE-10) came up empty on their previous trip up the floor.

The Golden Knights were hanging on to a four point, 73-69, lead with 3:47 left when Dorgler grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to make it a six-point affair. Saint Rose then took care of business from the foul line to run its home record to 8-2 this season.

Sophomore guard Tim Guers scored a game-high 22 points and junior guard Taylor Fortin contributed 17 to lead the Hawks.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights travel to Worcester, MA Wednesday to take on conference rival Assumption. The second part of the league doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 pm. Meanwhile, Saint Anselm is home Tuesday to face Le Moyne, also at 7:30 pm.
