WORCESTER, MA-The College of Saint Rose held off host Assumption to chalk up tonight's 71-65
Northeast-10 Conference victory. The Golden Knights (14-4/6-3 NE10) shot 50.0 percent (7-for-14) from the arc, but allowed a 16 point, second half lead to get to within four in the final minute.

"Winning isn't easy and tonight certainly proved that. Assumption was tough. They were well prepared and thus we had to fight to the final buzzer. We again got big minutes from our bench. That continues to be our 'MO', any guy on any night," said head coach

Senior forward
Tyler Sayre led four double-figure scorers with 20 points, while junior forward
Jack Jones tossed in 15 in 19 minutes of reserve action. Also, junior guard
Mical-Ryan Boyd and senior guard
Damon Coleman scored 11 each, while junior forward
Julian Lipinski finished with eight points and seven rebounds.

Senior forward Karl Ziegler and senior guard Declan Soukup scored 14 and 13 points respectively to pace the Greyhounds (3-12/3-7 NE10).

The Golden Knights went in the locker room up 37-26 at intermission, and increased their advantage to 54-38 after Jones drained a 3-pointer off a Coleman feed. However, Assumption took off on an 18-6 run that made it a four point, 60-56, ballgame with 5:00 to go.

Saint Rose then went back up nine, 67-58, with 2:28 to play, but the Greyhounds got to within four on two more occasions including 69-65 with 53 ticks left. Sayre closed out the scoring after the Golden Knights got back-to-back stops on the defensive end.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns home Saturday to take on conference foe Franklin Pierce. The second part of the league twin-bill is scheduled to get underway at 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, Assumption has a 1:30 pm NE10 road date at New Haven Saturday.
Notes: Saint Rose has now won five of its last six and is 5-2 on the road…The Golden Knights have shot better than 40.0 percent from the arc in six of the last seven contests…In fact, tonight marked the fourth time this season they drained 50.0 percent of their long range attempts…Saint Rose is second in the NE10 in free throw percentage (77.9%), scoring defense (65.0), and 3-point field goal percentage (40.7%)…Eight players are seeing at least an average of 12 minutes of playing time and six are scoring between 12.9 and 7.1 points per game with Boyd leading the way.
