COLCHESTER, VT-The College of Saint Rose could not overcome a six point, first period deficit and thus suffered a 73-51 setback to host
Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's this afternoon.

Staci Barrett scored 10 points and hauled in six rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (11-7/6-6 NE10), who had 10 players see at least seven minutes of playing time.

Cameron Graupman and sophomore forward
Karissa Birthwright tossed in eight points apiece, while sophomore guard
Ashley Vanderwall and junior guard
Morgan Sullivan added seven and six respectively.

The Purple Knights (10-7/8-4 NE10) assumed control in the third period. They built a 38-27 halftime lead and then closed the final four minutes of the third with a 9-0 run that transformed an 11 point, 48-37 advantage into a 20 point, 57-37 cushion heading to the fourth.

Junior guard Leah Spencer went 13-for-16 from the floor on the way to a 30-point effort for Saint Michael's, which won its third straight and improved to 5-2 at home.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns home Wednesday to face conference rival Bentley. The opening part of the NE10 twin-bill gets underway at 5:30 pm. The first 200 Saint Rose students in attendance will receive a free Golden Knights t-shirt. Meanwhile, the Purple Knights have a 7:30 pm meeting Tuesday at New Haven.
Notes: The Golden Knights have still won eight of their last 10 games…Four players continue to average double-figures with Nazon leading the way at 13.2 ppg.
