ALBANY, NY-The College of Saint Rose came up with two steals in the final 37 seconds and outscored Merrimack 13-0 throughout the last 2:44 to upend the Warriors 86-82 tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The contest swung both ways all evening with eight ties and 10 lead changes.

However, Saint Rose persevered in the end. Senior guard
Damon Coleman drained a 3-pointer from the left wing to get the Golden Knights (16-4/8-3 NE10) to within a bucket, 82-80, with 54 seconds remaining. Sophomore guard
Shane Herrity then came up with a steal that junior guard
Mical-Ryan Boyd finished to tie it, 82-82.

After Merrimack (12-6/7-5 NE10) called timeout, senior guard
Chris Dorgler stripped the ball and scored to put Saint Rose ahead to stay, 84-82, with 12 ticks left. Senior forward
Tyler Sayre followed with a block at the other end that deflected off a Warrior player. Junior forward
Jack Jones then calmly buried a pair from the stripe to sew up the come-from-behind win.

"It was a great comeback for our guys tonight. Merrimack is very good, but we never stopped playing and never stopped believing. I am very proud of how our guys performed when their backs were to the wall," said head coach
Brian Beaury.

Sayre tossed in 20 of his season-high 32 points, six shy of his career best, in the second half to propel the Golden Knights. He also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Coleman finished with 13 points and six assists, while Boyd added a dozen. Also, Jones was in double-figures for the fourth straight game with 10 points.

For Merrimack, graduate forward Anthony Barry registered a double-double behind 24 points and 11 boards, while freshman guard Jaleel Lord scored 19 points, on 7-for-8 shooting, in 24 minutes off the bench. Also, fellow freshman guard Juvaris Hayes handed out 14 assists.

Looking ahead, both teams hit the road Saturday for 3:30 pm conference dates. The Golden Knights travel to Colchester, VT to face Saint Michael's, while the Warriors head to Long Island to take on Adelphi.
Notes: The Golden Knights shot 50.8 percent (30-for-59) from the floor tonight…It marked the eighth time this season that they have made more than 50.0 percent of their field goal attempts…This evening was also the 12th time that Saint Rose had four players in double-figures scoring…The Golden Knights are now 9-2 at home where they are shooting 49.8 percent (337-for-677) from the field…They have furthermore won four straight and seven out of their last eight…Saint Rose leads the
Northeast-10 Conference in scoring defense (66.0) and free throw percentage (78.6), and is second in rebound margin (+4.3) and 3-point field goal percentage (40.9)…Eight players are seeing at least an average of 11.8 minutes of playing time and six are scoring between 13.2 and 7.7 points per game with Boyd leading the way.
