FOUR FIRST HALF STRIKES PROPEL GOLDEN KNIGHTS PAST HOLY FAMILY

Burchhardt Tallies First Career Hat Trick To Lead Saint Rose

PHILADELPHIA–The College of Saint Rose scored four first half goals on the way to today's 5-0 victory at Holy Family. The Golden Knights (2-0-0) struck twice in the opening 20 minutes and then added another pair one minute apart, before closing out the scoring early in the second half.

Saint Rose engineered a 23-8 shot advantage and manufactured eight corner kicks, all in the second half, while yielding only four.

Junior forward Morgan Burchhardt recorded her first career hat trick to lead the charge. A pair of freshmen in forward Victoria Barris and midfielder Karmyn Carter accounted for the other two tallies. Freshmen midfielders Deanna Trongone, Caitlyn Dabagian and Nia Brown each set up a goal as did junior midfielder Totianyu Guadalupe.

Between the posts, freshman Marika Laurendeau and sophomore Madison Taylor made a collective three saves as each played a half.

Barris scored what held up as the game winner in the 12th minute when she finished a feed from Trongone for her fourth strike of the young season. Burchhardt converted a penalty kick eight minutes later and touched home a Dabagian feed in the 35th to make it 3-0 Saint Rose. A minute after that, Brown and Carter linked up.

Burchhardt eventually capped off the scoring when she buried a pass from Guadalupe in the 56th.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are back on the road Monday with a 2:30 pm meeting at Wilmington. Meanwhile, the Tigers are off until next Saturday when they travel to Bronxville, NY for a noon date at Concordia.
