PLEASANTVILLE–Host Pace University scored the game-winner with less than 11 minutes remaining to upend The College of Saint Rose 2-1 in
Northeast-10 Conference action this evening.
Â
The game was played fairly evenly as the Setters generated a 15-14 edge in shots and a 5-4 corner kick advantage.
Â
Freshman midfielder
Nina Predanic accounted for the Golden Knights (5-4/2-4 NE-10) strike that tied the game just 17 minutes in. Meanwhile, freshman
Marika Laurendeau and sophomore
Madison Taylor made a collective seven saves between the posts.
Â
Junior back Drew Ribadeneyra got the Setters (5-2-2/2-2-2 NE-10) off to a quick start when she drove home a free kick from the top area with a mere 7:10 gone by.
Â
Saint Rose countered nine minutes later when Predanic redirected a strike from junior back
Totianyu Guadalupe.
Â
The match stood that way for the ensuing 64 minutes as the two squads exchanged chances. Junior midfielder Emma Sinanan then broke through for Pace after she headed home a throw in off the right wing from senior midfielder Ashley Kenny for what proved to be the game winner.
Â
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are off until next Tuesday, October 4 when they travel to Rindge, NH for a 7:00 pm match at Franklin Pierce. Meanwhile, the Setters head to Manchester, NH for Saturday's 11:00 am date at Saint Anselm.
