ALBANY-A combined 27 kills from senior outside hitter
Maryellen Devic and sophomore middle hitter
Shayna Webber led The College of Saint Rose past visiting Southern Connecticut State, 3-1, on Friday night at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

Devic hit .325 on 40 attacks and collected her fourth straight "double-double" with 16 kills and 19 digs. Webber recorded an impressive .556 attack percentage on 18 attempts while notching 11 kills and a match-best five blocks.

The Golden Knights (4-6/1-1 NE-10) never trailed in the opening set despite a tight margin throughout, and took the lead after scoring the final three points of the frame. Southern Connecticut (7-6/1-1 NE-10) responded by stepping up late in the second set after it was tied 22-22 to even the match, 1-1.

An 8-1 Saint Rose rally midway through the third game transformed a 10-9 lead into an 18-10 advantage that the Owls were unable to overcome. Similarly, the Golden Knights used a 6-0 run midway into the final frame to take an 18-12 lead that ultimately sealed the victory.

Freshman outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer totaled nine kills behind a .350 attack percentage on 20 attempts, six digs and two blocks. Senior middle blocker
Jennifer Gundrum finished with eight kills and a block, while senior defensive specialist
Samantha Atchinson tallied 21 digs and two service aces.

For the Owls, sophomore outside hitter Leanna Jadus totaled 11 digs and a team-best 10 kills.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights return to the court on Friday, September 30 to take on Bridgeport at 5:00 pm in non-league action at Nolan Gym.
