SYRACUSE–The College of Saint Rose scored twice in the first half and immediately answered Le Moyne's game tying goal to upend its host
Upstate Challenge rival 2-1 in
Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.
Â
Each squad registered 11 shots although the Golden Knights (5-2/2-2 NE-10) manufactured a 7-5 corner kick advantage.
Â
Freshman forward
Nina Predanic recorded her first two collegiate strikes to spearhead the Saint Rose offense. Fellow freshman forward
Victoria Barris and senior back
Sammy Blizzard each set up one of the scoring plays.
"This was a great team win. The ladies played intensely for each other and we finished two quality goals," said head coach
Laurie Darling Gutheil.
Predanic made it 1-0 Golden Knights with 20:36 elapsed when she gathered a short pass from Barris and drove a shot from the penalty kick stripe inside the lower left corner.
Â
Le Moyne (2-3-1/0-2-1 NE-10) then deadlocked it with 38:27 gone by when senior forward Rachel Terry lofted a shot from just outside the area that sailed into the upper-right corner.
Â
However, Predanic countered just 24 seconds later with the game-winner after she collected a pass off the left side of the box from Blizzard and finished inside the right post.
Â
In goal, freshman
Marika Laurendeau came up with five saves to run her record to 4-1 on the year while sophomore Anastasija Cumika made three stops at the other end for Le Moyne.
Â
Looking ahead, both squads have home conference matches set for Saturday. The Golden Knights have a 3:00 pm meeting with American International, while the Dolphins have a 3:30 pm date versus Saint Anselm.
