MANCHESTER, NH-The College of Saint Rose afforded fourth-ranked and four-time defending
Northeast-10 Conference champion Southern New Hampshire all it could handle before the Penmen struck twice in the second half to chalk up a 2-0 victory tonight. In the process, Southern New Hampshire extended its shutout streak to 10 matches dating back to last season.
Â
Junior forward
Suleiman Haruna-iya proved to be the biggest threat up top for the Golden Knights (2-3/0-2 NE-10) by engineering two shots-on-goal. Meanwhile, senior keeper
Christian Esposito came up with a pair of saves.
Â
The Penmen first struck in the 56th minute when graduate midfielder Rayane Boukema converted a penalty kick. Graduate forward Yannis Becker then directed a long volley that freshman Thomas Golden drove inside the left post for an insurance marker in the 82nd.
Â
Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to be back on the road Wednesday with a 4:00 pm date at
Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne. Meanwhile, the Penmen have a 7:00 pm home date that evening with conference foe Stonehill.
