Six Players Figure In The Scoring Column For Saint Rose


ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose used a balanced attack to upend Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's 3-0 this evening at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. Six players figured in the scoring column for the Golden Knights (4-1/1-1 NE-10) who manufactured a 12-9 shot advantage and a 6-2 corner kick differential.
 
Junior midfielder Raven Small scored the game winner and also added an assist to lead the Saint Rose charge. Freshman midfielder Caitlyn Dabagian recorded her first collegiate strike and senior back Elisa Galbiati also found the back of the net to run her goal scoring streak to three matches.
 
Furthermore, a trio of freshmen in Victoria Barris, Eva Frazzoni, and Nina Predanic all came up with an assist. In goal, sophomore Madison Taylor recorded four saves en route to her eighth career clean sheet.
 
"This was a great team win. Our defense did an excellent job and Maddy played well between the posts. We furthermore created some great scoring opportunities. It was a solid performance overall," said head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil.
 
Saint Rose struck in the opening eight minutes for the second consecutive time to take a 1-0 lead with 3:56 elapsed after Barris slipped a nifty feed to Small who drove home the decisive goal.
 
The Golden Knights added an insurance marker at the 64:43 juncture when Dabagian touched home a Frazzoni quick touch in the area. Predanic and Small then used some swift ball movement in close to set up Galbiati who tucked her shot inside the right post.
 
For the Purple Knights (1-3/1-1 NE-10), sophomore keeper Megan LeCours recorded three saves while sophomore midfielder Emily Durette delivered a pair of shots on target.
 
Looking ahead, both sides are scheduled to return to the pitch for conference matches Saturday. The Golden Knights have a 2 00 pm date at 24th ranked Stonehill in Easton, MA; while the Purple Knights have a noon home meeting with Adelphi.
