SAINT ROSE SUFFERS OVERTIME SETBACK IN NE-10 OPENER

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose fell 3-2 in overtime in today's Northeast-10 Conference opener as visiting Southern New Hampshire scored the game-winner midway through the first extra session to take home the victory.

Senior midfielder Elisa Galbiati and freshman forward Julia Porzio accounted for the two Golden Knights (3-1/0-1 NE-10) strikes, while freshman Marika Laurendeau and sophomore Madison Taylor recorded seven saves collectively.

Saint Rose got out to an early lead. Galbiati headed home a feed from senior midfielder Sammy Blizzard to afford the Golden Knights the edge at intermission.

However, freshman midfielder Devyn Jacobs converted a penalty kick after the referee ruled that her teammate was tripped up in the area to even the affair 1-1 with five minutes gone in the second half. Jacobs found the back of the net again two minutes later when she touched home a pass from sophomore midfielder Miranda Peloquin.

Porzio then granted the contest its third deadlock when she drove home a feed from freshman midfielder Nina Predanic for her first career strike with 68:36 gone by.

Neither side was able to generate any substantial threat from that point on as overtime loomed.

Looking ahead, both teams have home league matches this Wednesday. The Golden Knights will take on Saint Michael's at 6:00 pm, while the Penmen will host American International at 7:00 pm in Manchester.
